I’m impressed. Not only is Obama’s new economic committee head advisor a Korean-American, but the advisor’s a woman. WOO HOO. That just added double kudos in my book. Added to that is the fact that she’s only forty years old. Hah! Sometimes age is nothing but a number. Who says you need to be anciently old to know how to get the job done? Well, providing she does get the job done, I hope she’ll do a fine job with her new position.
As of right now, she’s the only Korean descendant on the team. She’s a magna cum laude graduate from Harvard, a Fulbright scholar who studied East and West German feminist literature, a Wall Street Journal correspondent, a White House Fellows recipient, and her resume just goes on and on. Quite impressive. Oh and her mother, Choi Sook Nyul, is the author of Year of Impossible Goodbyes and is a native of Pyongnyang.
Really, this is a pretty interesting news. I hope to hear more about her. Like Obama being a role model to the interracial and African-American community, I’m sure Choi will be for a role-model for Korean and other Asian communities. Only problem is that you won’t see me be anyone’s economic advisor. Put me in charge, I’ll make the whole world go bankrupt.
